Old Fashioned Coleslaw ~ Buttermilk Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1 small Onion Finely Grated
- 1/3 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Mayonnaise
- 1/4 Cup Buttermilk Well Shaken
- 1/4 Cup Whole Milk
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons White Vinegar
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/8 Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 8 Cups or 1-16 Ounce Bag Coleslaw Cabbage, Finely Diced
- 3 Carrots Shredded
Prep:
Finely grate small onion or approximately 3-4 tablespoons. Add to shredded cabbage mix and shredded carrots. Place in large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl add sugar, mayo, buttermilk, whole milk, white vinegar, fresh lemon juice, salt,and pepper. Mix together. Pour into large bowl and coat slaw evenly. Put aside in fridge for at least 1 hour. Better if it has time to sit in fridge for about 4-5 hours. Makes a perfect side for BBQ.
